Important Reminder: Update Your W-9 If Your Information Has Changed

Feb 9, 2026

As we continue into the year, this is an important compliance reminder for all agents.

Blank W-9

If at any point this year you move, change your legal name, update your business entity, or modify how you receive commission payments, you must submit an updated W-9 to Arbor.

Why This Matters

Your W-9 is what we use to:

  • Issue your 1099 at year-end
  • Report your income correctly to the IRS
  • Ensure commission payments match your legal tax information

If your W-9 does not match your current legal name or Tax ID, it can delay payment processing and create tax reporting issues — including potential IRS penalties or backup withholding.

Situations That Require a New W-9

Please submit an updated W-9 if you:

  • Change your legal name (marriage, divorce, etc.)
  • Form or dissolve an LLC or corporation
  • Switch from individual to entity (or vice versa)
  • Update your Tax ID (SSN to EIN, or obtain a new EIN)
  • Move and change your mailing address
  • Make any change to how commissions are paid

Even small changes matter when it comes to IRS reporting.

What To Do

  1. Complete a new IRS Form W-9 (most current version).
  2. Ensure the name matches exactly with your Social Security card or EIN registration.
  3. Submit the signed form to Suz Moshenko at suzanne@arborrealestate.com for processing.
